Volkswagen Golf 928
Gunter Artz in Hanover split a Golf body-shell and widened it to cover Porsche 928 mechanicals. Only the doors and side panels are original, everything else had to be fabricated. The windscreen alone cost £2,000 - so this was not a cheap exercise.

This 300bhp RWD Golf Mk1 was featured in many magazines of the early 1980s, not least because it could achieve awesome four wheel drifts and crack a genuine 140mph. Road tests of the time suggested it was terrible to drive.
